Project's title: Health inequalities in India |
Objectives:
-
To study inequalities (distribution) in population health risks and health state
- To compare health inequalities between adult population and child health and trends in health inequalities
- To relate inequalities in health risks to catastrophic health spending and poverty
- To decompose health inequalities using measures of healthy life expectancy – HALE (previously DALE) and
- To relate the health goal achievement to health risk distribution.
Data Sources:
This study will use secondary data from the following sources.
- National Sample Survey (52nd and 58 round): Provides data on morbidity prevalence for all states
- World Health Survey 2003: Provides data for six states namely Assam, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh and pooled data for India
- National Family Health Survey, 1998-99
