Collection
The library has documents in book form as well as electronic form on different disciplines such as Demography, Family Welfare, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Public Health, Sociology, Geography, etc. The collection is in English and Hindi languages and published by Union Government, State Governemts, Corporate Bodies, International Agencies and Commercial Publishers of India and abroad.

Special collection:
The library has special collection of all the census volumes of India as well as all the states and Union Territories published by the Registrar General of India and Census Operations of various states and Union Territories. United Nations, World Bank, ILO, Foreign Census, Ph.D. Theses, POPLINE Database (Online/Offline). The reputed publishers e-journal access and complete census of India 2001 data on CD is the strength of the library.

The library receives about 325 Indian as well as foreign journals out of which 225 journals received by the subscription and another 100 journals are received by gift and exchange.

Services

Current awareness service:
Current Additions: The library brings out 'Acquisition List' containing bibliographic entries pertaining to the document added to the IIPS library. It includes Books, Census Documents, Reports and other documents added to the library. It is a bi-annual (January-June & July-December) publication. The entries are arranged subject wise. Author Index is provided at the end of the list. It is available in print and also on the web. Displaying new arrivals books/jackets in the library as a part of this.

e-Based Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI) Services: The library informs to their clienteles every week on their e-mail account as follows:

1. List of research articles appeared in journals, edited books, conference proceedings, seminars on population studies and related disciplines.
2. List of new books, journals available in the market on our subject.
3. Acquisition list regularly with the interval of a month.
4. Submission of 'Book/Journal Requisition Form' online

• Xerox rates : A3 Size : Rs. 1.50 per page
• A4 Size : Rs. 0.75 per page

Internet and E-Mail service: With realising the importance of providing communication technology, library has access to INTERNET facility that encompasses a broad range of services to augment education and research activity. INTERNET service is provided to all the faculty, staff, students & research scholars of the institute.

Information & Reference service: We offer following services in order to meet the information needs:

Reference assistance: Library provides in-person assistance at a designated information or reference desk. Providing reference help in the library is often the most effective way of getting your questions answered. Please don't hesitate to ask the librarian for help in locating materials, using the computerized catalogs and databases, or for information about library services.

Telephone reference and electronic reference services: We answer questions over the telephone and also answer questions submitted through the e-mail. This method is usually best for factual or directory type questions, certain other types of questions may be best answered in person.
